Since the May news not a great deal has made the headlines. A close game against the undefeated Petersham losing 27-21 and then a loss away to Balmain (played without our 6 Subbies Team Representatives plus a number of key injured giants missing).
The Petersham game was a very tough and lively affair with the lead changing hands several times during the game. Every time the Blue Giants looked to have the Shammies measure a Giant error would occur or the Giant’s took a wrong option as they say! A close win by the Competition leaders and they enjoyed edging out the Colleagues once again in their short history back in the Kentwell Cup.
Petersham as a club were well organised in all grades, it was evident they have developed a strong club culture (read inner city larrikin) , however their fashion sense was a little off beat and they also lost the skulls after the speeches in the clubhouse (read it and weep lads) !
Nevertheless what the game proved was if this is the standard then the Blue Giants at their best are up to their eyeballs in the Kentwell Cup Competition!
This weekend Sat 24th June its crunch time for the Colleagues at home to Mosman. A strong club performance is required to keep in touch with Club Championship leaders Drummoyne. Its looking like perfect conditions for rugby and the big screen in the club house will have the international games on as well. Rugby Heaven by any definition, get on down and support the Giants I’m sure its appreciated by the boys in blue.
