After a couple of weeks without footy, the Blue Giants claimed valuable championship points as we took on Knox at home last Saturday.
Halligans put in a dominant display to dispatch Mosman 7ths 43-0 in the first match of the day, which was followed by Sutherland facing off against the unbeaten Mosman 6ths (representing Knox) in a top-of-the-table clash
Colleagues put in a strong performance as each side scored two tries apiece, however Mosman ultimately prevailed 14-10.
In what is the most closely-fought grade in the competition, Whiddon suffered a narrow loss to first-placed Knox 8-5. With just two wins separating second and seventh place, Colleagues are still right in the hunt and will be look to knock off 5th-placed Petersham this Saturday.
With bash brothers Richard Harvey and Chuck MacDonald set to start together in the backrow for the first time this season, Petersham are in for a long day at the office.
The highlights of the day came in Barbour, Burke and Kentwell – with all three lodging bonus point wins and important club championship points.
Both Kentwell and Burke had ground out close wins against Knox in the first round fixture but the boys from the north shore were no match for the Blue Giants this time around.
Kentwell claimed a 34-10 victory which included six tries, while Burke piled on 43 points as James Lovell and Giles Widdicomb both picked up doubles.
Both sides will be looking to maintain the momentum against Petersham this weekend.
